Vehicle Propulsion Systems

Scope

  • Drivability and fuel consumption models of the most important vehicle propulsion systems (IC engines, electric motors, short range energy storages, batteries and fuel cells, drive trains and vehicles, etc.).
  • Mathematical optimization methods (parameter and control), including CAE tools.
  • Several examples of novel power train systems (hybrid electric vehicles, fuel cell vehicles, etc.) and their optimization.
  • Case study, optimization of a novel vehicle propulsion system.

Goals

  • Introduction of the most important concepts of mathematical system optimization using vehicle propulsion problems as examples.
  • Presentation of several model classes of propulsion systems and components.
  • Application of modern system optimization and control tools to vehicle propulsion systems
