Biomedical Systems
The increased usage of mechanical devices for medical therapy makes engineering one of the important future research areas in medicine. Our biomedical systems group uses the knowledge of system dynamics and control theory to improve medical therapy devices.
The assisted circulation project deals with the control of blood pumps which are used for mechanical circulatory support. The goal is to develop a control strategy which is able to promote recovery of a failing heart.
The hydrocephalus project deals with the development of a controlled shunt for a smart drainage of cerebrospinal fluid.
