Announcement of Name Change
As the nature of our research has changed, so have we. To better reflect our current work, we have changed our name from “Institute für Mess- und Regeltechnik” (IMRT) to “Institute for Dynamic Systems and Control – Institut für Dynamische Systeme und Regelungstechnik” (IDSC).
Though we remain the same legal entity as before, our mailing and web address have been affected by the change. Please update your records.
More information about the name change can be found in the May edition of ETH Life.

The Robotic Chair comes to Zurich!

March 5th-16th at the Cabaret Voltaire, Spiegelgasse 1, Zurich.
Tuesday to Friday: 12:30; 15:00; 18:00; 19:30
Saturday and Sunday: 13:00; 15:00; 17:00
Closed Mondays.
A generic-looking wooden chair with the capacity to fall apart and put itself back together, The Robotic Chair is a collaborative project by ETH Professor Raffaello D'Andrea, ETH Artist in Residence/Industrial Designer Matt Donovan and Canadian artist Max Dean.
A poignant representation of society and the individual - falling apart, falling down, gathering oneself together, picking oneself up, again and again - The Robotic Chair reminds us not only of our fallibility, but also of our innate capacity for re-creating and redeeming ourselves in the face of catastrophe.
The Robotic Chair is made of sophisticated mechanisms charged with the task of locating its scattered parts and reassembling itself. The chair is not dependent on viewer presence or interaction to perform.
